Shifting roles from burden bearers to solution providers in Kabarole and Fort Portal.
United Women in Climate Change and WASH is a grassroots movement empowering women and youth in Kabarole District and Fort Portal Tourism City to lead climate action and community transformation. We integrate agroforestry, eco-entrepreneurship, riverbank restoration, and climate-smart WASH solutions to build resilient communities. By fostering leadership, financial inclusion, and environmental stewardship, we shift women and youth from climate burden bearers to empowered solution providers. Rooted in local leadership and guided by the spirit of Ubuntu, we work collaboratively to create a just, sustainable future for all.
Empowering communities to restore degraded environments through indigenous tree planting and sustainable agroforestry practices.
We foster eco-friendly enterprises led by women and youth, promoting financial independence through climate-smart businesses and innovations.
Advancing access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene with technologies that conserve water resources, improve health, and build climate resilience.
Kasusu, Fort Portal
Before joining the eco-briquette training, I struggled to provide for my children. Now I run a business selling charcoal briquettes, and my children are back in school.
Nyabukara, Fort Portal
As a young woman, I never thought I could stand and speak before others. Through the leadership training, I have learned skills in agroforestry and teamwork.
Kisenyi, Fort Portal
Before we learned about climate-smart WASH, my family was often sick. Thanks to the hygiene training, we now use handwashing stations and water purification kits.
